VISION:

Guided by our relationships. Tested by our choices. Committed to the pursuit of new PATHWAYS!

  • In 1995, the Texas Legislature mandated that juvenile boards in counties with populations greater than 125,000 operate Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Programs (JJAEPs). The JJAEP provides services to youth who were expelled from public schools for serious school-related law violations as well as provides an alternative site for students referred for violations of the Student Code of Conduct while placed in District Alternative Education Programs.  The goal of the Parker County Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP) is to reduce delinquency, increase offender accountability and rehabilitate offenders through a comprehensive, coordinated community-based juvenile probation system. The JJAEP will assist students in performing at grade level as a result of academic interventions provided by the JJAEP in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies and self-discipline.
  • The JJAEP is operated by the Parker County Juvenile Probation Department, under the direction of the Parker County Juvenile Board.  The JJAEP provides academic, behavioral, therapeutic and support services to assist youth who are expelled from public schools. Students can be assigned to the JJAEP for mandatory referral offenses (Texas Education Code, Section 37.007(a)(d)(e)) or for discretionary offenses (Texas Education Code, Section 37.007(b)(c)(f)).   Students assigned to JJAEP are required to meet assigned lengths of stay and academic and behavioral performance measures to transition back to their home school campus.

We pledge to:

  • Provide students with learning experiences that equip them to perform at grade level or above.
  • Motivate students to recognize their full potential academically and socially.
  • Connect with students in a nurturing environment where they feel a sense of support to meet the academic and behavioral expectations.
  • Support problem-solving skills so students can make healthy decisions that contribute to their future success.
  • Promote healthy resocialization through an improved view of themselves and others.
  • Provide parental assistance and support in an effort to increase parent effectiveness as partners in their child’s education.
  • Equip the students with academic and social skills for a successful transition back to their home campus.
